Charles Kerins has been called "The artist who painted America's Childhood". In a larger sense, Kerins, more than any other artist, chronicled mid 20th century America from a young person's perspective.
All of these images are from the magazine covers, so they don't have the quality and detail that phographing the original artwork would have.

The model for the big brother is Richard Murphy, one of Kerins' favorite models. Richard was very good at the craft of modeling and could easily create any expression he was asked for. Richard appears in many of the ads and magazine covers Kerins painted.

Sometimes the first big boy haircutis a little rocky.

In many parts of America, going hunting was a right of passage for boys.

This model is Bubby Turner, he is another of Kerins' favorite models, like Richard Murphy, his talent for modeling resulted in Bubby being chosen for many ads and magazine covers by Kerins. Joan Mulcahey was Kerins' favorite female model.
